The Seattle Seahawks have released their inaugural injury report for the Super Bowl, and while the list of affected players is quite extensive, there is a silver lining: every player participated in practice on Wednesday. This is an encouraging sign as they prepare for the big game.
In contrast, the New England Patriots have a much shorter injury report, but notably, one of their key players did not take part in practice. Linebacker Robert Spillane, an eighth-year veteran who played in 13 regular-season games and three postseason matches for the Patriots, is currently sidelined due to an ankle injury. This issue has been troublesome for Spillane, causing him to miss four games earlier in the season and then flaring up once more during their recent AFC Championship victory in Denver.
Despite this setback, Spillane expressed confidence to the media on Wednesday, asserting that he believes he will be ready to take the field on Sunday for the Super Bowl.
Turning back to the Seahawks, they listed eight players as having limited participation during Wednesday's practice session. Among these, two were resting, while the other six were full participants despite managing injuries. Notably, starting left tackle Charles Cross is dealing with a foot issue, and his backup, Josh Jones, is contending with ankle and knee problems. Quarterback Sam Darnold continues to be a limited participant as he copes with an oblique injury, which has been an ongoing concern throughout the playoff series.
Adding to Seattle's worries is the status of rookie safety Nick Emmanwori, also limited due to an ankle injury. Emmanwori had previously missed nearly a month after injuring his ankle in the first week of the season.
The Patriots’ injury report details only five players. Quarterback Drake Maye was a full participant despite nursing a shoulder injury sustained during the AFC Championship.
